A father lives forever in the memories of a child.

One of my fondest memories is the time we were burning ditches with the John Deere-B. I couldn't pull the clutch back with one hand, and when I took my other hand off the steering wheel, the tractor high-centered in the ditch. He of course was angry and yelled, but he added at least I hadn't turned it around and chased him like Debby had.

Martin and MartinaDaddy sometimes took me to the dentist. Once when he came to pick me up, he parked in front of the huge picture window while I was still in the dentist chair. The stock rack was still on the pick-up. He got out and peeked between the rails, then looked around the end to see if I enjoyed his game.

When we were in college in Bozeman we were having car trouble. We asked if he could find a dependable used care for us to buy. After two weeks, he told us he would give us their (Martin and Grace's) Dodge Aspen. He explained, "I couldn't find a car I liked, and we wanted a new car anyway." That Aspen got us to Seattle.

Dear Jarrod, Kim and Jamison: Your father was a special man to many, but especially to you. He was the one who told me you were expecting, and it was with such pride and hope for the future. He was full of the Lord's Grace and may it be with you.

Martin and Jarrod
I remember happy times when Jarrod and I would visit Martin and Grace. We'd sit and visit at the table, and he was always interested and concerned about my teaching job. A very special memory is when Jameson was born. He was so touched by his birth and we are so thankful he shared our joy!
