Kathrine Edith (Huck) Pfarr with Mother and Father

The United States met Australia and produced my mom.

Grandma and Grandpa came from different worlds.

John William Huck, my grandpa and Mom's father, was a native of Denver, Colorado. He worked as a merchant marine in the South Pacific. I know very little since I never met him and only know family stories. Grandma's recordings in Mom's baby book say he was interned at a Japanese concentration camp for seven months. When Mom moved to Denver to go to school, he was a general agent of a steamship company in Shanghai, China.

Hazel Jean Huck, my grandmother, was born into the Kelly Clan in Australia. She adopted China as her homeland, after living there for several years. This news came many years later when members of the Kelly Clan visited my family in Montana to learn more of my grandmother's life.
